What's that you may say....Well I feel refreshed, lively and full of new ideas today - why - because I had what I call a 'me' time day today. A friend has breast cancer and I decided to take her out for some lunch and we had such a lovely chilling day down by the river.
We watched the boats sail, the children shrimping and sailing, dipped our toes in the water and I didn't feel one bit guilty at all. I didn't answer my phone, look at my emails or even think about work as I turned my blackberry off.
It's so tempting to take a sneak look, answer the calls or even send messages when you are away from the office but hey people can leave a message! Nothing is so urgent that it can't wait a few hours. If it was they would call 999 and I wouldn't have been able to get there in time anyway.
The times I walk around a supermarket and people are answering stupid calls "what shall I get for dinner" "what time will you be home" - gosh what did we do before mobiles??
We had the old fashioned telephone box and I won't mention my age but it used to have 'press A or B' on it = remember them! Well we managed in those days as we weren't on call 24/7.
One last thing - a friends husband takes his mobile to bed - just in case the boss wants to speak to him ............and he wonders why his marriage is in trouble!
That's says it all really
